A total of 25 sub-Saharan migrants were intercepted on Wednesday morning as they tried to sneak into Spain via the Strait of Gibraltar.
A search was activated at 07:45 following a mobile phone call from Morocco stating that two boats had set off for Spain.
The Moroccan authorities located one of the boats with ten people on board and transferred the passengers to Tangier.
The second boat, carrying fifteen people, was spotted by a fishing vessel and subsequently intercepted about two miles off Tarifa. The occupants were taken to the port of Tarifa where the Red Cross was on hand to offer assistance.
Several of the passengers showed symptoms of hypothermia as their boat was full of water.
