Average hotel prices in Spain have reportedly increased by 8% in December when compared to the same month last year.
The largest increases are in Lleida, up 66% to €88 per night, followed by Toledo (+21%), Alicante (+18%), Sevilla (+13%), Valencia (+12%) and Segovia (+10%).
There were also decreases in the cost of hotel rooms, these being Oviedo (-11%), Huesca (-10%), Badajoz (-6%), Murcia (-6%), Gijón (-5%), A Coruña (-4%), Tarragona (-3%), Santander (-2%) and Logroño (-2%).
On the other hand, Palma de Mallorca, with €111 per night, and Barcelona, with €100 euros, are the most expensive cities for hotel reservations in December, followed by Madrid, where the price averages €97 per night.
The study indicates that European countries where prices have fallen this December compared to last year are Russia (-25%), Sweden (-4%), Cyprus (-3%), Turkey (- 2%) and Norway (-1%), while the cheapest cities in which to stay are Sofia (€57 per night), Warsaw (€60), Bucharest (€67), Riga (€72) and Athens (€72).
At the opposite end of the scale, the countries with the largest increase in hotel prices are the United Kingdom (+ 12%), Hungary (+ 10%) and Bulgaria + 9%). The most expensive cities to sleep in a hotel are London (€215), Geneva (€214), Paris (€165), Oslo (€149), Stockholm (€147), Salzburg (€142), Copenhagen (€142) and Manchester (€138).
