Police have identified and arrested a man who allegedly knocked down and killed a man at a pedestrian crossing in calle Juan Montilla, Jaén, on Monday morning.
The incident occurred at 06:50 in calle Montilla, near to the Health Centre. The driver, apparently travelling at high speed, ignored the red light at the crossing and hit a pedestrian. The impact caused damage to the leg of the victim and propelled him several metres, whereupon he struck his head on the pavement and died at the scene.
The driver did not stop but was later identified and a warrant issued for his arrest.
