The Red Cross and the Social Dining Room run by the Association of Workers for Social Integration (ATIS) have launched a campaign to collect food for the needy in the community.
The campaign will take place at the Eroski hypermarket in the El Ingenio commercial centre from December 19th to 23rd where users will be given a bag to deposit non-perishable foodstuffs and other much needed items such as nappies and baby food.
The aim is to collect 7,000 kilos of articles during the five days of the initiative. The collections will take place from 10:00 to 22:00 each day.
The Social Dining Room has a list of 450 families in need in the community and provides 120 meals each day.
The Council has expressed its appreciation to the Red Cross and ATIS for their work as the municipal authority has no funds available for supporting the Social Dining Room.
