Two boats carrying a total of forty clandestine entrants were intercepted in Spanish waters in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The first interception took place four miles off Carboneras, Almeria, twelve young men of Algerian origin being transferred to Almeria port. One of the passengers had symptoms of hypothermia.
The secomd interception occurred about seven miles south of La Rabita, Granada province. On board the small boat were 28 adult males, all of whom were said to be in good health. They were taken to Motril where the Civil Protection, Red Cross, National Police and Guardia Civil were on hand to greet them.
