A Guardia Civil officer from the Nerja barracks, 47-year-old Jesús Villena Jiménez, has died in a motorcycle accident in Calaceite near the border between Nerja and Torrox.
The incident occurred at around 03:00 on Saturday morning at km 288 on the N-340, the body being discovered by a cyclist,
The main hypothesis is that the motorcycle, a Yamaha 250 cc, left the road for reasons yet to be ascertained and hit one of the fences erected to stop falling rocks. The accident is under investigation. An initial visual inspection of the crash site showed no appreciable signs of braking.
An autopsy is being carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
Jesús Villena Jiménez, a resident of El Morche, leaves behind a wife and two children aged 19 and 17 years.
