The Government has presented a proposal to the unions and employers to raise the minimum wage (SMI) by 0.5%, that is to say an increase from €645.30 to €648.52.
The UGT and CCOO unions had put forward a figure of 12.5% in January 2015 to make the minimum wage €725, with the idea of raising it to €800 in 2016.
Around 200,000 people are affected by the minimum wage.
