A 65-year-old hiker died last night in the Sierra Nevada mountains after temperatures fell to minus seventeen degrees and 100 kph winds hit the area.
The body of the woman was found early this morning almost at the Refugio de la Carihuela. Her partner was also found, just in time, suffering from hypothermia.
The couple had set off to climb Pico del Veleta with two other companions, but they turned back as the weather worsened.
