Tens of thousands of registered letters and official notices, along with around hundreds of thousands of items of ordinary mail, have accumulated in the post offices in Andalucia during the past, festive, month.
According to the unions, the problem has been that, for the first time, no extra Christmas shifts were deployed and, as a result, mail has not been delivered.
In Sevilla, around 300,000 items have not been delivered, these including around 15,000 registered letters. In Granada the figure is around 130,000 undelivered items.
Queues at the post offices themselves over the Christmas period can only be described as ‘horrendous’.
