The Government Group of the Nerja Council has approved the project for the construction of a Fire Station with a current budget of €1,234,612.26.
The project is expected to be published in the Provincial Gazette (BOP) on Friday, so from that date interested companies will be able to submit their bids. It is thought conceivable that the contract could be awarded in February.
Funding is being provided by Nerja Council, with €534,612.26, and Málaga Provincial Council, with €700,000.00. However, both authorities view this as an ‘advance’ and expect reimbursement from the Junta de Andalucia. Whether this will ever happen is another question entirely.
Nerja Council provided the site for the Fire Station in 2008 and has been waiting ever since to see action by the Junta de Andalucia. Now, an agreement between the municipal and provincial authorities, both PP controlled, is allowing the project to progress.
The site for the Fire Station is a 3,661 square metre plot on the Frigiliana road. The scheduled completion period is one year.
