A 12-year-old boy was injured at the weekend by a shot fired during a hunt in the municipality of Ardales.
The hunt, involving at least five hunters, took place on Saturday near the town of Ardales and the boy was accompanying his father, a participant in the event.
At one point, a shot was fired and the boy cried out as a bullet hit his hand, removing parts of two fingers on one hand. The boy also suffered facial injuries, to the cheek and ear, thought to have been caused by a splinter of rock dislodged by the impact of the projectile.
The boy was airlifted to the Hospital Materno Infantil.
The Guardia Civil is investigating the incident and carrying out a reconstruction in order to determine the likely trajectory of the bullet and identify the shooter. The incident is being initially treated as a hunting accident with the injuries being caused by imprudence.
