Barcelona twice came from behind to beat Villarreal 3-2 and record their eighth victory in a row.
Cheryshev gave the visitors the lead after 30 minutes before Neymar equalised just before the break. Vietto put Villarreal back in front, but only for two minutes as Alcántara do Nascimento once again levelled matters.
Two minutes later and Messi was on the scoresheet and that’s the way it stayed until the end. It was Messi’s 32nd goal of the season.
Sevilla are fourth in La Liga after also coming from behind to beat Espanyol 3-2 on Sunday.
A Stuani penalty gave the visitors the lead. Figueiras equalised and then Machin Pérez put Sevilla in front in the latter stages of the first half.
After the break, Sánches Mata made it 2-2 before a late goal from Iago Aspas gave Sevilla the victory and the three points.
