The Guardia Civil has dismantled a cocaine laboratory in Huelva, arresting eleven people in the process.
The detainees, all Spanish nationals aged between 25 and 40 years and residents of Huelva, have a long history of drug trafficking.
The police operation began in March 2014 and culminated on Tuesday with simultaneous raids on nine homes in Huelva city, Aljaraque, Punta Umbría and Almonte. Two kilos of crack cocaine and ten kilos in other forms were seized during the raids.
The alleged leader of the organisation and the ‘chemist’ responsible for the ‘kitchen’ were amongst those arrested during the raids which took place at 07:00 on Tuesday morning. It is the first cocaine factory to be discovered in Huelva province.
The laboratory was apparently moved around the area from time to time to avoid detection and four different typews of drugs were produced, each priced according to its purity.
