A total of 68 sub-Saharan migrants, including ten women and five children, arrived in Almeria port on Tuesday afternoon after their boats were intercepted by the Maritime Rescue Service.
At just before 15:00 on Tuesday, a Spanish aid worker called the authorities to report that two boats had set off for Spain from the Moroccan coast near Nador. Planes, helicopters and various vessels began a search for the boats.
The first boat, carrying 54 people, was located at around 16:00 near the Isla de Alborán. The second boat, carrying 14 people, was located a short while later. All the passengers were then taken to Almeria port for processing.
