Eleven sub-Saharan migrants have been intercepted as they tried to make their way across the Strait of Gibraltar in a small inflatable dinghy.
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (CCS) received a call from Morocco at 08:00 on Thursday to say that a small boat had set off for Spain and was now adrift in the Mediterranean. Search vessels finally located the small craft at 09:57 about 3.5 miles south of Punta Carnero, near Algeciras, Cádiz province.
The eleven males, all said to be in good health, were transferred to Algeciras for processing.
