The Minister of Environment, Isabel García Tejerina, has been visiting Nerja, and in particular the works to construct the first sewage plant in the municipality, long overdue of course.
The Minister is reported as saying that the construction work is going according to plan and that the sewage plant will be finished at the end of 2015.
January 2016 will see the start of six months of testing and then, at the end of June 2016, the plant should become fully operational and be capable of servicing the needs of up to 125,000 people.
This is great news for residents and visitors alike. The project has taken decades to get off the ground, having been rejected by governments of different political persuasions, for whatever reason, during that time.
