The mayor of Nerja has announced the launching of projects amounting to a total of 312.784 euros from the Producive Investemnt Plan II of the Provincial Government. During the past two years, Nerja has received almost 700.000 euros from this plan.
The projects that will be carried out and which have already been approved by the Government Board are the re-development of Calle Antonio Millon, in the section between Calle Fray Junipero Serra and Chaparril, with an investment of 150.163, 57 euros. Also the construction of pavements in the beltway of Maro, with a budget of 97.567,08 euros and the improvement of the street lights in Avenida Rodriguez Acosta, with an investment of 75.053, 35 euros.
The Mayor stated that the total budget of the Productive Investment Plan II is 26 million euros, to be shared among the towns of the province, according to each town’s population.
He also expressed his satisfaction to see “that the Council is siding with Nerja, helping to finance projects that help social and tourism development”. In this regard, he said that “against those, who from false positions, questioned the investment of the Council in Nerja in this legislation, they are shown to be wrong and it confirms that Nerja has received and is presently receiving from the Province’s Government, as they had never received before”.
José Alberto Armijo pointed out that with this new plan “we are coming close to receiving 4 million euros in aid from the Provincial Government, which have been used to make investments and to improve the delivery of services, beautify our town and especially to drive the economy to create new jobs.”
