The temperature of the sea has led to an influx of jellyfish along the coast of Nerja, so do take care when swimming.
Yellow flags have been flying on occasion, even when the sea was flat-calm, and according to the lifeguards this was because of the number of jellyfish close to shore. There are no signs indicating the presence of these stingers so just be aware and remember that the flags do not only indicate inclement weather or rough seas.
Whilst there have been a number of reports of people being stung in Nerja, none of the incidents have been serious.
