The Fiesta Blanca, held on August 14th, has been deemed a success, with over 5,000 people attending, although not all at once due to ‘health and safety’ concerns.
The limit for the event was set at 1,700 people at any one time, which meant that all the rest had to wait patiently until someone left the party in order to take their place.
Although most appear to have taken the restrictions in their stride, there has been some inevitable dissent on social media.
The Council is studying a change of venue for next year’s event so that everyone can enjoy the party at the same time.
The last time there was a change of venue, some bright spark moved the event to Torrecilla beach and had the stage set up near the waterline. As the sea at Torrecilla beach comes quite a way in every day, this did not go down in the annals of history as one of the more competent decisions ever made.
The event had to be called off at the last moment due to the stage being under water.
