The Councillor for Occupation of Public Roads, Maricarmen González Ortega, has been meeting with residents and businesses to try and resolve the problems by occupation of the streets, notably calles Pintada, La Gloria, Cristo and Hernando de Carabeo.
The Council is aiming to find a solution to the problems caused by commercial enterprises, particularly restaurants, who use the streets as terraces. The Council hopes to be able to resolve the issue so that regular users of these streets can transit these routes without prejudice to trade in the area.
Both employers and local residents apparently agreed on the need to adequately define these spaces.
Another concern being addressed relates to the accumulation of rubbish on the streets, which cannot be accessed for removal until the businesses have closed.
Dorita says:
I think they would be better employed clearing the beggars and all the illegal street traders trainers cluttering up the Carabeo. They also need to address the problem on Calahonda beach since in their wisdom they forced the closure of the great Papagayo bar, it is now full of itinerants and dogs, an absolute disgrace.
At least the bars and restaurants on said streets add atmosphere and vibrancy, what do the aforementioned add?
