The decision has been made, Puente Viejo will return to being an asphalt surface following a public survey carried out by the Council.
A total of 88 people responded to the survey, either calling by phone or making their preference known via a Facebook page. Of these, 77 were in favour of asphalt, 7 preferred the current cobble stones and the other 4 were not bothered either way.
The project now has to be prepared, approved and put out to tender and work will start once all these administrative steps have been successfully completed.
The bridge is now open for the festive period, until November 2nd, but will be partially closed once again after the holiday while the repair works are completed. There will be one lane open, this being for those entering the town.

While cobblestone looks attractive I think the right choice maybe Ashphlt to deal with the amount of traffic that is carried over the bridge. Just hope some traffic calming is included in work as El Puente is one of my favourite stops when in Nerja.
