The government team led by the Council of Malaga has set a goal of finishing the mandate Senda Litoral (Coastal Path Project). The allocated 2016 budget will ensure that the project receives a major economic boost.
This finished project will connect the 181 kilometers of coastline from Nerja to Manilva – through paths, wooden walkways and trails. The goal to complete the path by the end of 2019 was reiterated by the Council’s president Elijah Bendodo. The benefits are that visitors or local residents can cycle along this route or walk on foot without interruption. The ‘Senda Litoral’ is an ongoing project, that will be open to the public and to be expanded as new segments are built. The project will be an attraction for tourists but also have environmental uses. Just over 50 percent of Malaga coast is already restored and in use which is in excess of 95 kilometers in length. As well as travelling along walkways, bicycle lanes and various paths, the coast path also runs through attractive beaches and cliffs and places of outstanding natural beauty. Passing many ancient historical watchtowers on route, adds to making this tour a treat to sightseers.
