The Guardia Civil, Local Nerja Police, Fire and Civil Protection all became involved in a search and rescue mission to find an injured paraglider that had crashed landed on Sunday evening when flying overhead from Las Alpujarras.
The Alpujarra is a natural and historical region in Andalucía, Spain, on the south slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the adjacent valley. The average elevation here is 4,000 feet above sea level.
Search parties covered the rugged terrain from seven o’clock, when the alert was received, and continued to search for three hours. The rescued paraglider was finally located at approximately 10 o’clock last night with the help of many resources including a plane. A helicopter was also used to take the injured individual to the Provincial Hospital of Malaga, where he has been diagnosed with several multiple injuries.
