Nerja Town Hall has begun installing sports equipment for public use, with facilities specially designed for street basketball in the Verano Azul park in Nerja. In the near future, the council will also install new sports equipment on various beach fronts and open spaces of the town to promote sports and encourage outdoor recreation and keeping fit. Other local areas have seen successful results from the installation of gyms on the beach and basketball courts, with many children and adults benefiting from more outdoor activities. Residents and visitors to Nerja already enjoy access to volleyball nets on Burriana beach and businesses in the area offer kayak and pedalo hire as other outdoor recreation.
