Twenty sea rescues were performed by lifeguards on August 8th even though the red flag was posted at the beach. During one of these, the two lifeguards in charge were struggling to pull a man back after he strayed too far. Seeing this, around thirty beachgoers formed a human chain to help pull him out. Emergency services beg for surfers and swimmers to respect flags and to avoid getting into the water without a lifeguard present.
A video of the scene was uploaded to YouTube.
