Conference about the effects of Brexit on residents is held at the Nerja Cultural Centre

The Residents Council of Nerja Town Hall, in cooperation with Blacktower Financial Management (International) Limited, offered a presentation in English at the Nerja Cultural Centre about the effects of Brexit on residents previously from the UK and foreigners.

The processes and current news about Brexit were on the agenda, and the agreements between both Spain and England that came into effect in 2016 were also discussed at the seminar. The financial exchange rates and their impact upon Spanish residents was then reviewed.

Additionally, the significance of being a resident was addressed, when a person is considered resident by the Spanish authorities and the importance of registering with Nerja council, as well as the new regulations in Andalusia regarding inheritance and donations taxes that have entered into effect in August and that will be effective in January 2017.

Finally addressed were the new laws regarding renting property and related documentation, including the NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero) the all-purpose identification and tax number in Spain, and how to register to be a resident.
