The Council for Youth of the town of Nerja, will present a seminar on training and information on alcohol consumption and its risks, to students of secondary schools of the town. This activity takes place on the World Day Without Alcohol, which is celebrated on November 15th.
The Councillor for Youth Sara Rivas Martinez, said “Since we found that alcohol consumption has increased in teenagers, and the age that young ones started drinking has lowered, we felt the need to carry out a preventive measures and an awareness project on the consumption of alcohol in young people and its consequences.”
Alcohol problems are rooted in many societies, and have become a global health risk, with economic, social, cultural and personal implications. Nerja’s teenagers appear to have a good awareness of the dangers of heavy drinking and Spain’s problem with alcohol does seem minor in comparison to other countries. Children in Spain are usually introduced to alcohol in their early teens however not by friends but by parents.
The main objective of this particular project is the prevention of abusive alcohol consumption of young people in nightlife venues in the town of Nerja
