Maro village itself is a small community, with just a handful of restaurants and hotels and yet at times it has a surprising amount of visitors, especially to its beaches. Maro is full of natural beauty, stunning views out to the mediterranean from spectacular cliffs, so its attraction is not a surprise. However, Nerja council have had a number of reports about this beauty spot needing improvements such as leftover litter on the beach and the amount of vehicles passing through the village to get to the beaches.
At the meeting the existing needs were addressed in preparation for next summer’s season which seems fast approaching including the possibility of launching a shuttle bus as a way to control traffic and avoid over crowding to the region’s beaches. Also, access to the emergency services would be better implemented in the event that their assistance was necessary. The maintenance of the roads and the cleaning of the area were also some of the points agreed upon as important investments to get improvements for the beaches of Maro.
