Nerja’s outdoor entertainment starts tonight at 10pm on the Balcon

With two consecutive weekends full of events with the street as it’s setting, the first sample of Theatre in Nerja is expected to have great reception by locals and visitors. From Thursday, June 1st, and Sunday 4th there will be a series of performances and activities on the Balcon de Europa, Market Hall and Villa de Nerja Cultural Centre.Nerja council continues with its cultural themed activities and wishes to add a distinctive atmosphere for visitors. If you are looking for things to do in Nerja and you’re out for a late evening drink or stroll, why not head to the Balcon tonight? Here you will find the first performance of Theatre on the Balcon with the work of Encerrona by Pepe Viyuela at 22:00pm on the Balcón de Europa (Thursday 1st June). Those with an open mind to different humour from another culture, may find the physical slapstick and emotional humour side intriguing, as life’s interpretation from the Spanish comedian’s point of view is portrayed.

Entertainment in Nerja for children

In addition, the 20th Festival of Amateur Theatre will take place at the Cultural Centre Villa de Nerja, with the Jubilee Workshop on the 1st, Candilejas Workshop on the 2nd, the Grupo Pies Sucios on the 3rd and the Scena Theater on the 4th at 20:00 hours.

 

For younger ones, there will be puppets from the Miguel del Pino Company on Saturday, June 3 at the Balcón de Europa at 7:00 p.m.

In addition, there will be an exhibition in the Market Hall from 1 to 20 June of “Peneque, the puppet of Miguel Pino” and lectures, on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 of Miguel Pino and Pepe Viyuela respectively. The mayor, Anabel Iranzo, has said that the idea is to “take the theatre to the street” to bring it closer to the locals and tourists and to “promote it’s interest”. Everyone is welcome to enjoy all the activities that have been organized.

More outdoor live entertainment is planned throughout the whole of the summer from various artists that have been approved, licensed and selected by Nerja town hall.
