A meeting between Nerja town hall and La Sociedad Azucarera Larios SA (or SALSA) has taken place in an effort to resolve issues with the plan to develop a golf course and various developmentsin Maro.
The proposed development land is in an area known as el Barranco de La Coladilla and is situated near to the Nerja caves.
In 2002 Armijo’s administration sold a large portion of the land for 15 million euros to Medgroup, a multinational real estate group. Since then Nerja town hall has been in negotiations with different companies with regards to the development of the land.
According to Nerja’s town plan the land is designated for agricultural use and not currently earmarked for development.
Nerja’s urban development councillor, Anabel Iranzo, said, “We are negotiating with (SALSA), we have asked for changes in the agreement which will benefit the town. Larios wants to cooperate with the town hall.”
Plans for the golf project include a 18 hole golf course, 680 homes & a number of luxury hotels. A group supporting the plans is ‘Maro Golf, Proyecto Turístico de Gran Caldo para Nuestro Municipio,’ (Maro Golf, major tourist project for our town) who have been gathering momentum via social networks.
Martin says:
Waiting patiently for the day a golf course is operational in nerja again. There was one when we first came to nerja but the ground was soon taken over and built on.
