A 46 year old male resident from Nerja lost his life this week on the Mediterranean motorway, at the exit of the Torrox tunnel. The man died from injuries when he was allegedly hit by a a tourist driving a car, which was said to be unavoidable.
The accident occurred at 00.15pm hours at kilometre 291 of the motorway, towards Almería.
The Traffic Civil Guard, Local Police and the ambulance were quick to the scene after the 061 emergency services were called.
The maximum speed limit on some parts of this stretch of motorway is 120 kilometres or 74 miles per hour, however some tunnels locally have a speed limit (and hidden speed cameras) of just 80 kilometres per hour or 50 miles per hour.

Was he hit by the tourist, or was he hit by the car?
