Owners accused of Animal Abandonment in Nerja

The Guardia Civil discovered 30 dogs of different species in bad hygienic and sanitary conditions after carrying out an inspection of a farmhouse in Torrox recently. The Guardia are taking action based on the clear evidence that the animals were suffering due to neglect and abandonment on the part of their owner.

Also, in another farm in the same municipal area, they located seven dogs of different breeds, five of which were sectioned in two small fenced enclosures, with the ground covered with their own excrement and other obvious symptoms of abandonment.

Another two dogs wandered around the farm, revealing that they were both in a famished state and suffering from severe malnutrition. It was also noted that one of the dogs had partial amputation of one leg, that did not appear to have been performed by a qualified veterinarian.

  1. We continue to hear stories of animals suffering the most horrendous existences. It is astonishing that it continues unseen, and unheard, for so long.

    • Unfortunately, this will continue to happen — just as child abuse continues to be heard about — until *people* — we humans — change.
We have to keep being on the look out and not be hesitant to report any suspected situations of abuse of *any* kind to the appropriate authority, at least for investigation.
And . . . we can also continue to do everything we each can do as we encounter these situations.
