Given the current predictions, the airport is poised to handle 94,000 arrivals and departures during the busy holiday season.
Malaga Airport now has flights servicing 136 destinations around the world carrying a record 18 million passengers in 2017.
The importance of the Costa del Sols main gateway is obvious not only from the number of flights arriving and taking off but from the increase in new routes and destinations with Qatar Airways starting a twice-weekly service to Doha in May, while Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air has also announced new routes to Sofia, Bulgaria and to Katowice in Poland.
Meanwhile, flights between the UK and Malaga will continue to be the most common routes.
