Hotel workers called 112 early Friday morning after a fire broke out in the kitchen of the Hotel Marinas de Nerja.
150 hotel guests who were mostly still in bed were told to evacuate their rooms by the Guardia Civil until the fire was put out by the emergency services.
Once firefighters had extinguished the fire and it was verified that there was no risk guests were allowed to return to their rooms.
The only person injured in the blaze was a 35-year-old cook who was transferred to the Regional Hospital of La Axarquía where he was treated for smoke inhalation.
