Malaga based Film Company Fresco Film has chosen Andalucia to film a new 10-part series for American streaming media service Netflix.
Centred on manga comics Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn, The story revolves around Sister Shannon Masters, a Joan of Arc-like heroine who embarks on missions to combat evil.
Since being launched in 1994 the comic has come under criticism for some of its story lines, yet has proved to be immensely popular.
Producer of the new series Peter Welter from Fresco Film said when asked about filming locations in Spain: “It will be a great promotion for Malaga because of the international reach of the Netflix platform.”
Other locations for the shoot include Rhonda and Antequera.
