Nerja mayor José Alberto Armijo has announced plans to build the towns new library at number 1, Iglesia Street on the site of the José del Peso Blanco Foundation.
The library is compatible with the foundation’s goals and will be a welcome addition to the town’s historical centre.
The library will contain its current services of loaning out books along with Internet access and a reading club in a space triple the size it currently has.
In order to get the project started quickly, the mayor has enlisted the cooperation of the Cueva de Nerja Foundation by getting them to contribute 200,000 euros to the new library.
When talking about the Cueva de Nerja Foundation’s involvement in the project José Alberto said: “It is the second time in history that the Foundation is directly involved in a cultural project, after being involved in the Nerja Cultural Centre.
The new library is an important advance in the quality of the cultural and educational infrastructures of Nerja, giving formative use to a site currently used by the municipal cleaning service.
