The Councilor for Beaches, Francis Arce, announced that Nerja’s beaches have passed the tourism quality audit process by the Institute for Quality Tourism in Spain, ICTE.
The review was carried out to renew that Nerja’s beaches certificates, such as the Q for quality and ISO standards. The Safe Tourism seal has also been added this year to Nerja’s beaches.
All beach facilities have been reviewed, such as showers, toilets, information signs, beach bars, hammocks, lifeguard personnel and equipment, first aid, cleaning, and floating waste collection. The audit ended with a mock rescue exercise by the lifeguard team.
The councilor pointed out that this year the start of the bathing season began on 1 June after a complete cleaning and general disinfection, as well as gardening and painting maintenance, and with the start of the surveillance and first aid service.
