It has been a momentous week in Nerja’s history as the water treatment plant has finally been put into operation.
The initial testing phase of treating wastewater for the town will run for 6 months until April 2021.
It is still yet to be confirmed who will take over the maintenance and operation of the facilities from April 2021, but negotiations are currently taking place with Aguas de Narixa.
Although Nerja’s sewage treatment plant was expected to be ready in 2016, there was a number of setbacks and complications which affected the projects completion. The site it will not be fully functioning until 2021, however it is a milestone that it is now running in a test phase.
