This Thursday the Junta de Andalucía has given the go-ahead for Nerja to be declared as an area of large tourist influence.
The councillor for Commerce, Javier López, explains that “this declaration allows retail commercial establishments to have the freedom to set the days and hours of opening in the periods of Easter, both from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday and the summer season, from 1 June to 30 September, applying to the entire municipality”.
This means businesses will benefit from extra business opening hours during Easter and into the Summer This declaration will no doubt be hugely favourable to many business owners within the town. Further details regarding the extra hours are to be announced.
The councillor expressed his satisfaction and highlighted the importance of this declaration, “which highlights the tourist attraction of Nerja, considering the large number of visitors it receives each year. In this way, our traders will have greater freedom of opening hours during these periods,… favouring the development of the local economy and employment”
