The secretary general of the PP in Nerja and councillor for Safety and Transport, Francisco Arce, and the party’s spokesman, Jonathan Méndez, have expressed their rejection of Pedro Sánchez’s government’s intention to impose tolls for the use of motorways and roads throughout the country. They have described the proposal as harmful to the economy of Nerja and the province of Malaga.
“These tolls would reduce the income of sectors such as transport, tourism and commerce,” they added. “Sánchez wants us to pay again for something that is already paid via direct taxes, indirect taxes and fees,” said Jonathan Méndez, and stresses, “it will also directly affect the right to move and circulate freely throughout the national territory, as the measure would affect the network of more than 12,000 kilometres of free high capacity roads that run through Spain, which would be considered as motorways, causing people to opt for free alternative routes, some much more dangerous.
