Merendero Moreno is a long established (since 1965) beachfront restaurant at the western end of Burriana beach.
It has a large covered terrace right on the promenade.
The specialities are meat, fish and paellas prepared on a traditional barbecue.
Lenny says:
In our book, this is simply the best merendero on Burriana Beach. And if you are seeking paella, be advised that we find Moreno’s version way less salty that the more flamboyant Ayo’s at the opposite end of the beach. Spanish food is often scarily oversalted – even the bread – which is a consideration for us hypertensive nothern Europeans. The atmosphere at Moreno’s seems less madcap and cramped, and there is good shade. It is also near the best cocktail bar – H2O – and the best coffee and cakes parlour – Tropysol – in Nerja, so you can have an aperitif in the former and go to the latter after enjoying your main courses at Moreno’s. Diversity is the spice of life. The clincher – Moreno’s is at the West end of Burriana and is arguably nearer more parking options (but only just) than the Eastern outpost.

Nice place and good location with friendly staff. Food is fine and not to expensive. Please serve some tapas as well with the second drink.
AF says:
well…went to this one as ayo’s was absolutely chocka!
food very nice, the fish and paella dishes were very nice, but poor service and general attitude, charged us for the little packets of butter that came with the bread!
and the small plate of broken, bitty olives that were chucked onto the table…
Mel Warner says:
We enjoyed a few visits to this restaurant in July. The food is very good. I can recommend the prawn cocktails and paellas. Also the fried aubergines with honey, yum!! Staff friendliness depended on who was working as some waiters are friendlier than others. Worth a visit.
Mike says:
Not the same since Ricado and Miguel left.
