Making a loud noise

According to a new study, a tiny water boatman is the loudest animal on Earth relative to its body size and it achieves this by using its genitalia. ‘Singing penis’ sets noise record for water insect

Alternative solution

Camels are considered to be one of Australia’s most damaging feral pests, with a herd of more than one million roaming through the Outback and allegedly chomping through native plants and trampling over sacred Aboriginal sites. These quadrupeds also belch out one tonne of methane each per year, making the herd one of the country’s major carbon emitters.

Just good friends

Always a sucker for pictures of Orangutans, their eyes are so sad looking in many ways, even when they seem to be happy. This time it’s a dog and an Orangutan.

Poor thing

An Emperor penguin has turned up on Peka Peka beach in New Zealand, 4,000 miles from its home, after presumably taking a wrong turn and getting lost while hunting for fish. It certainly does look baffled by its surroundings.

Some good photos

Nice set of animal pictures in the Daily Telegraph this week, love the goose and the bushbaby! Animal pictures of the week: 10 June 2011
