Everyone is being affected by the current economic crisis. Well, almost everyone. The administrators of Woolworths, a household name, have announced that all 800 of their shops will be closed by January 5th, the first 200 actually closing down on December 27th. The closures will affect 22,000 permanent staff and 5,000 part-time employees.

Microsoft to issue emergency security patch today

Microsoft is rushing to issue a patch to fix a security flaw which is believed to have resulted in as many as 10,000 websites being affected. The emergency patch should be available from 1800 GMT today, December 17th. The (latest) flaw in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser could allow criminals to take control of people’s computers and steal passwords.
