Pedrosa wins in Jerez

It was a Spanish 1-2-3 at the Spanish MotoGP in Jerez with Dani Pedrosa grabbing his first win of the season. Young newcomer Marc Marquez barged champion Jorge Lorenzo out of the way and off the track at the final corner to take second place. Lorenzo managed to continue and finished third.

Granada 1-0 Málaga

Granada took another step towards survival in the top flight with a 1-0 win against Málaga, Ighalo scoring what turned out to be the winner in the 28th minute. Málaga slip to sixth place after Valencia beat Osasuna 4-0 with goals from Soldado, Ricardo Costa, Banega and Jonas from the penalty spot.

Barcelona 0-3 Bayern Munich

Barcelona suffered a second drubbing at the hands of Bayern Munich, losing 0-3 on the night and 0-7 on aggregate. Robben, Mueller and Piqué turning the ball into his own net did the damage and Bayern will face Borussia Dortmund in the final of the Champions League.

Real Madrid 2-0 Borussia Dortmund

Real Madrid dominated the match against a Borussia Dortmund, who began with time-wasting as early as the first minute, and one got the impression that once they got the ball into the back of the net, the floodgates would open. In the end it was too little, too late and Borussia go through to the final of the Champions League.

Málaga 2-1 Getafe

Santa Cruz and Weligton were on target for the Blue and Whites as they beat Getafe 2-1 on Sunday, Valera scoring for the visitors. Málaga are still looking for a top six finish, hoping that their European ban will be overturned now that their finances are more in order.

Athletic Bilbao 2-2 Barcelona

Athletic Bilbao took the lead against Barcelona through Susaeta and that’s the way it stayed until midway through the second half when Messi and Alexis struck in quick succession.

Borussia Dortmund 4-1 Real Madrid

Robert Lewandowski found the net four times as Borussia Dortmund thumped Real Madrid 4-1 in the first leg of their Champions League clash, rounding off a bad week for Spanish Clubs. Cristiano Ronaldo scored Real’s consolation goal and they now have a mountain to climb, as the saying goes.

Bayern Munich 4-0 Barcelona

Barcelona came unstuck against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, getting hammered 4-0.  No away goal makes their task in the second leg somewhat monumental, but miracles have happened in the past.

Marquez becomes the youngest MotoGP winner

Spain’s Marc Marquez became the youngest rider to win a MotoGP race after taking victory at the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas. His Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa finished second and reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo was third. Nadal’s winning run comes to an end

World number one Novak Djokovic ended Rafael Nadal’s eight-year reign at the Monte Carlo Masters, beating him in straight sets in Sunday’s final. It was Nadal’s first defeat in Monte Carlo in 47 matches. Djokovic won the first set 6-2 in 46 minutes and completed the job 7-6 (7-1) in the second set.
