Rayo Vallecano 2-1 Atlético Madrid

Barcelona, who have only lost one match all season, are now twelve points clear at the top of La Liga after Arlético Madrid, their nearest rivals, fell further behind after losing 2-1 at Rayo Vallecano.

Barcelona 6-1 Getafe

Alexis, Messi, Villa, Tello, Iniesta and Piqué all got themselves onto the scoresheet as Barcelona trounced Getafe 6-1 on Sunday. Alvaro scored a consolation goal for Getafe but it was too little, too late and Barcelona go marching on.

Real Madrid 4-1 Sevilla

Real Madrid had a comfortable 4-1 win against Sevilla on Saturday evening. Benzema opened the scoring and then Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed a hat-trick, scoring in the opposition net this week. Manu del Moral scored a late consolation goal for Sevilla.

Atlético Madrid 1-0 Betis

Atlético Madrid narrowed the gap to the leaders to nine points with a 1-0 win against Betis on Sunday, Diego Costa heading home the winner in the 62nd minute. Third placed Real Madrid are sixteen points off the lead and fourth placed Málaga are a further seven points behind.

Valencia 1-1 Barcelona

A 39th minute penalty by Lionel Messi earned a point for leaders Barcelona at Valencia after Banega had put the home side in front just after the half hour mark. Barcelona enjoyed the vast majority of possession, as they generally do, but Valencia were the more attacking side, creating numerous chances.

Málaga 1-1 Real Zaragoza

Málaga will have to wait until the end of the day to see if they can hang on to fourth place in La Liga after a 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza on Sunday.

Granada 1-0 Real Madrid

A header from Cristiano Ronaldo was the only goal of the match against Granada on Saturday evening, but unfortunately it was into his own net. This latest setback means they could end up 18 points behind leaders Barcelona by the end of the weekend and with little or no chance of defending their La Liga title.

Now that doesn’t happen very often, a 2-1 scoreline with all goals coming in the second half and all the result of penalty kicks. But it is exactly what happened in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg match between Atlético Madrid and Sevilla.
