Social Programme to create up to 35 jobs

Torrox Council has approved the Social Programme for the Balancing of Family Income which will create up to 35 part-time jobs per year with a maximum contract period of six months. According to the Council, the programme is designed to partially or wholly solve urgent needs arising from social emergencies experienced by residents as a result of the crisis.

The 400 seater Torrox theatre, built at a cost of €7.5 million and inaugurated in March 2011, is still not being used except, for the past year, as offices for the Department of Culture and its dependent agencies.

Mayor of Torrox visits Madrid to discuss beach erosion

The Mayor of Torrox, Francisco Muñoz (PSOE), was in Madrid on Friday to meet with the deputy general for Coast Protection, Ángel Muñoz, to once again request action to permanently stabilise Ferrara Playa to prevent the constant erosion, suggesting that the project could be carried out in phases.

Torrox Council to review taxi licence fees

During the coming months, Torrox Council is set to review the €601 fee paid by taxi drivers to renew their municipal licences. The review is under an ordinance passed in 2007 but not applied until now.

Active aging programme in Torrox

Torrox Council is developing an ‘active aging’ programme which, amongst other things, is resulting in the accumulation of costumes, recipes, songs, legends games and other items relating to the municipality.
