The cafe La Caña next to the Guardia Civil station on calle San Miguel, Nerja, has closed down. After a fairly long existence as a cafe and bar it then changed to being a snack bar and kebab house.
Friday Night Fever October 18th
The next Friday Night Fever at Restaurant First is on Friday October 18th 2013. The menu for the event is as follows:
Vecchia Osteria
Restaurante Aguamarina on calle Mérida didn’t last very long, neither did the New Inn at the bottom of avenida Castilla Perez. The latter is now the Vecchia Osteria, an Italian bar and restaurant run by the people who until very recently had the excellent Da Tino at the side of the church on the Balcón de Europa.
Après Carrera tapas at El Barrio
Happy to report that Cafe El Barrio, in calle El Barrio, Nerja, is still producing good tapas and at a reasonable price, €1.50 for a beer and a tapa. Very relaxing place. On this occasion I had a sweet and sour pork tapa, very tender meat.
Mojito at Sarah’s and Manolo’s
Sarah’s and Manolo’s on avenida Mediterraneo, Nerja, is a great, friendly little bar with a nice street terrace at the front. Not as daft as it sounds, some places do have rear terraces.
Boatyard Bar to remain open
The Boatyard Bar on El Playazo beach, Nerja, is no longer closing down after an agreement was reached on a new lease. The Boatyard was due to close at the end of this month as a result of unreasonable demands made by the landlord, but it would appear that common sense has prevailed in the end.
Sushi Away closes
Sushi Away, the small Japanese cuisine bar and take away in calle Gomez, Nerja, has decided to close.
Glass of Málaga wine and tapas
Always fun to pop in to Los Bilbainos in calle Alejandro Bueno, Nerja, whenever I’m in the vicinity, a nice glass of Muscatel wine – this time from Málaga and chilled – and a tapas still only €1.50.
La Tahona Holandesa now open at lunchtime
As from Monday September 16th, La Tahona Holandesa in Plaza Garcia Caparros, Nerja, will be opening from midday each day with a special lunchtime menu.
Coffee and cheesecake
Stopped off at La Tienda, just off the main square (opposite the side entrance of the Iglesia de San Antonio de Padua) in Frigiliana for coffee and a piece of homemade cake. I went for cheesecake.
