Meal at Maria Bonita

For a birthday celebration we popped down to Maria Bonita in Plaza de los Cangrejos, Nerja. It was very busy, as usual, but we managed to get a table and we ordered Entrecote a la Pimienta, a rack of barbecue ribs and a T-bone steak.

Da Tino closes

The popular and very reasonably priced Italian cafe Da Tino at the side of the church on the Balcón de Europa has closed and is being replaced by a bar.

An underwhelming experience

Not a successful day for a change as I decided to continue on the Mojito trail. Someone said that Papagayo on Calahonda beach did a pretty good one so I suddenly decided a nice relaxing lunchtime salad washed down with a refreshing Mojito sounded like a good idea. Wrong. No Mojitos before 18:30. Ah well, on to MarBella to try …

Tapas at La Traiña

A couple of nice tapas at La Traiña at Burriana beach, an excellent tapas bar and always popular, today being no exception.

Mojito at Bar Pancho

The sign at Bar Pancho in calle Antonio Millón says ‘The best Mojito in Nerja’, so I just had to try one.

Sloan’s temporarily closed

Sloan’s restaurant in calle Los Huertos is closed at the moment as Sam Sloan is in hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Midday tapas at Candela

Candela is located in Plaza Cavana and has a nice terrace on the square. Good relaxing location, service is prompt, the beer is cold and the tapas are a very reasonable size. A bit pricey at €1.90 for a small beer but then again, it is in what you would classify as a prime ‘touristy’ location.

Mojito at Bajamar

There are several good places to sit outside, relax and enjoy a drink on calle Antonio Millón, the Bajamar Cafeteria being one of the most popular. Good, friendly service and very reasonable prices.

Mid-afternoon tapas at La Piqueta

La Piqueta is a small, popular tapas bar on calle Pintada, Nerja, with a street terrace for those occasional warm days. As a tapas I was presented with a fat, juicy chorizo sausage in a bun.

Tapas at Julie’s Place

Tucked away in the corner of the Plaza Balcón de Europa in the centre of Nerja is Julie’s Place, a small cafe-bar which opened a couple of months ago. It is run by Oscar, a Cuban, and his wife Julie and offers, amongst other things, quite a wide variety of veggie dishes and tapas.
