Renovations have been completed on the former Holiday Pizzeria in calle Cristo and it has become Rúcula.
Tapas at Mesón Asador de Castilla
Lunchtime tapas at Mesón Asador de Castilla in calle Málaga, Nerja, and a really delightful ‘Bacalao con huevo’ – cod with egg. Good portions, good atmosphere and great food but with tapas no longer included with drinks, it makes it €2.50 for a small beer and tapa and a bit on the expensive side for more than one.
Lunchtime tapas at Torre de las Guardas
Haven’t been to Torre de las Guardas in calle Chaparil for a while so that was lunchtime tapas sorted. The bar closed for a few weeks while the roadworks were in full swing in that sector but is now open as usual.
La Biznaga open again
La Biznaga on the Balcón de Europa is open again after a long winter break.
Tapas at Jaime
Jaime in calle Jaén is a nice, small friendly bar with a small street terrace. As a tapa I chose ‘higado’ (liver), a simple dish but not always the easiest to get right. This one was pretty good, nice texture and a very nice sauce. And a good portion. A beer and a tapa, €1.40.
La Fuente and +39
The Italian restaurant +39, formerly on the Plaza Balcón de Europa, has moved to calle Málaga, next to Lan Sang.. Its place on the Plaza Balcón de Europa has been taken by the Italian restaurant La Fuente.
Tapas at El Ancla
It’s new, so it has to be tried. El Ancla – formerly Paradise Cocktail Bar (for a short time) and Metropolis – is a new tapas bar in Plaza Tutti Frutti, Nerja. The bar is very spacious, plenty of tables, and there is a good terrace on the square.
Tapas bar in Plaza Tutti Frutti
A tapas bar in Plaza Tutti Frutti, Nerja, El Ancla. It will be interesting to see how that pans out. It has the advantage that it is the only tapas bar in the square and the only place open during the day, all the rest being late night music bars.
Tapas at El Pulpito
Haven’t been in El Pulpito in avenida Castilla Perez since it first opened so I thought I would check to see what it was like now. The service has improved – it could hardly have got any worse based upon my initial experiences – and I ordered tortilla – Spanish omelette. Wish I had chosen something else as the tortilla …
Tapas at Los Mariscos
Popped into Los Mariscos in calle Cristo for a quick beer and a tapa, see if anything had changed. Nope. Still the same people running it. It is a very small bar area, but quite cosy and friendly, with a couple of tables out on the street as a terrace. I had a pinchito – meat on a stick – …
