The newly refurbished Portofino in calle Puerta del Mar, Nerja, is once again open after a lengthy closure due to ‘holidays’. The bar has had a total makeover.
Da Tino’s
The small Italian cafe at the side of the iglesia El Salvador on the Balcón de Europa in Nerja has undergone a slight name change, from Vitaliano to Da Tino’s….by Vitaliano. Nothing else has changed, still a great place for a coffee and a nibble.
Slight price increase but still great value
The price of a beer and a tapa at Vicente’s in calle Málaga, Nerja, has gone up by ten cents to €1.40 but it remains excellent value, especially considering the size of the portions. Holiday and other closures
La Dama in calle Carabeo is closed for holidays until December 24th. Antica Roma, also in calle Carabeo, is also closed. Portofino in calle Puerta del Mar is still closed ‘for holidays’, with what looks like a total renovation going on. Eva Gaudi and Blue Med on the paseo at Burriana beach have closed down permanently.
La Capilla del Mar closed for holidays
La Capilla del Mar on calle La Cruz, Nerja, is closed for holidays until New Year’s Eve. The restaurant is fully booked for New Year. La Rosaleda and Diamante Azul, next door to each other on avenida Mediterraneo, Nerja, have closed down.
Christmas Eve at El Mirador
Christmas Eve, December 24th, at El Mirador – aperatif, hot and cold buffet, coffee, bottle of wine – only €30. Starts from 20:00.
Tapas at Antelo
Popped into Antelo in Plaza de la Ermita, Nerja, for a late lunchtime tapa and opted for some chorizo – spicy sausage. It was the most tender, juicy chorizo tapas I can remember, superb. And with a beer and a tapa only €1.20, outstanding value.

The lounge bar Agape on calle Granada, Nerja, is closed for holidays, possibly for much of the winter if last year is anything to go by, although there was no note on the door this time. Bar Doña Lola on the Plaza Balcón de Europa is closed until December 20th.
